Heights Admissions |
Kestrel
Heights School provides an outstanding education to students
in grades K -12. Our class sizes are small, and our student-to-teacher
ratio is 10:1. Our current middle school enrollment is
308 and there are 262 students at the high school. Our
2012 graduating class enrollment is 48 and last year we
graduated 40 students.
Because we believe that a small student population
is key to providing a personalized, excellent education,
we have a lottery system in place. Our policy is to
enroll any student who is selected in our blind lottery
admission process, and, who has been promoted by any
other NC Public School or by any other state school
system. In the case of homeschooled students or students
coming from unaccredited private schools, KHS will base
all enrollment decisions on nationally recognized testing
results the student may have completed; or we will have
such student take a series of tests to assess their
appropriate grade placement.
Follow these steps to start the admission process:
1) Complete the admission form for your middle or high
school student (see links at the right).
2) The lottery is a "blind" lottery. We assign
all applicants a number in each (e.g., 1-298) and place
the lottery number into a box and draw them one at a
time. When we have filled the class, say 100 students
for 6th grade, we continue drawing the numbers and placing
them on the waiting list until all numbers have been
drawn.
There is currently a wait list for students
in all grades. The next lottery will be held on February
24, 2012.
We invite you to contact us at any time with your questions,
and to browse this website to learn more about our test
scores, Paidaeia philosophy,
and our school curriculum.
