Kestrel Heights Athletics Booster Club

The Kestrel Heights Athletic Department strongly encourages ALL students to participate in at least one extracurricular activity each school year. We believe that athletics can provide a wealth of oppor tunities and experiences that simply cannot be attained in the classroom. Therefore, we have developed a well-organized, competitive and challenging atmosphere centered on athletics that allows for individual development as well as team cooperation skills that are essential for lifelong learners. Any student who wishes to participate and is academically eligible has the chance to join a team of his/her choice and hopefully, in turn, will learn skills and abilities that foster individual and team growth.

Kestrel Heights currently trains teams in boys baseball, girls and boys soccer, girls and boys basketball, girls volleyball, cheerleading and dance teams, co-ed soccer, and co-ed track and field; we participate in the Triangle Middle School Conference.

Participating in athletics at KHS is a large commitment and is taken very seriously. Any negative actions on or off the court/ field can result in removal from the team and possible further disciplinary action taken by the team coach, the athletic director or the KHS administration. When committing to a team, each athlete is expected to make all try-outs, meetings, study halls, practices and games. Any absence will be handled on an individual basis by the coach of that sport.

Although sports are competitive and challenging, this department is committed to teaching and developing young people as a whole. We encourage broad participation, even by those with little or no experience. Academic eligibility is based on citizenship and effort grades rather than academic content. We wish that each experience with KHS athletics is a positive one and that the student will continue to support and participate in all activities sponsored by the school.

The high school athletic program has joined the Central Carolina Athletic League. Statistics and records can be viewed by clicking on the CCAL link above.

Please read or review the “student code of conduct” for specific information about athletics and academic eligibility. If you have any further questions please contact Richie Mitchell, Athletic Director.

All monies raised by the Athletic Booster Club will be invested into the school through athletics and other areas that will determined at our meetings. All meetings are open to the public, but in order to vote on decisions, you must be a member and be current on your membership dues
