Kestrel Heights School, a public charter school, currently educates children grades K-12. Front Office Administrative Assistant (High School)
The goal of the front desk secretary is to provide the necessary clerical responsibilities to assist the building administrator(s) in the smooth, prompt and efficient operation of the school office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Grants entry, welcomes, and greets visitors to the school office.
  • Answers phone, arranges appointments, and screens visitors.
  • Types correspondence, reports, memos, etc., as instructed.
  • Maintains a complete and systematic filing system.
  • Collects, enters, and maintains accurate computer records of all student discipline actions.
  • Monitors, collects, compiles, enters, and maintains accurate computer records of all daily attendance information.
  • Assists in calling parents of students who are absent.
  • Assists with check-in of late arrivals and admit slips.
  • Gather student's homework when ill, on homebound, or suspended.  Prepare and submit all attendance and membership reports as requested by the building administrators and/or Central Office administrators.

  • Checks in all late arrivals and checks-out early pickups.
  • Act to keep the school secure ensure visitor, volunteer and student sign in/out and taking ID’s as necessary. Maintain and file inclement weather forms.

  • Maintains confidentiality of all school-related matters.
  • Assists with attendance data entry on student information system.

Substitute Teachers

K-12 Administrative Assistant ​​
This position is a full-time Administrative Support position which provides a full range of moderate to complex clerical/secretarial work assignments in support of the Directors and Administrative Team. Reports directly to the Executive Director, but interacts with a wide range of staff, faculty, students,and community leaders. Some evening and weekend work is required.

Also includes:

  • A full range of moderate to complex clerical and secretarial assignments involving the use of judgement and discretion.
  • Projects are of moderate scope and complexity, such as completion of small to medium sized projects.
  • Day to day work is performed with general instruction, including new or unusual assignments. Independence and initiative occasionally required
  • Proofread letters and documents
  • Assignments are varied involving the regular use of judgment and discretion
  • Course of action guided by interpretation of policy and procedures
  • Practical, thorough and creative solutions are developed
  • Assignments and projects often involve coordinating with other work groups to gather routine information or solve problems
  • Knowledge of applicable School's infrastructure, policies, and procedures
  • Thorough knowledge of office methods, procedures and practices
  • Fluency in using standard office software packages
  • Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling
